3/19/2024 0 Comments A 10 warthog airfoil database![]() ![]() ![]() Just look at the new generation airfoils being used for lightweight soaring gliders and the smaller DLG's. ![]() But thin does not automatically mean fast. It is normal that models intended to fly really fast will generally pick thin airfoils. And while the E201 and S4233 are marginally thicker than a ClarkY they are not all that much thicker. Thinner would equal faster, is that correct? 001" but you should be able to put the template against the leading edge and not see a lot of daylight worth of difference. It doesn't need to be accurate to within a. Make up a nice template to use as a shaping guide. Keep in mind that the leading edge means a lot on any new "brand name" airfoil. But then when have we seen an A-10 doing low inverted passes lately? What it should give you is a nice slower speed handling. They would not be really good for inverted. I think either would work well at around 40 to 45 oz ready to fly. So look both of them over and see if you think one or the other would look right. And it would have the right sort of look on the Warthog.īut then along came Dr Selig with the "new and improved" S4233 which is supposed to be just super. The added wing loading actually really made the airfoil work well. In fact I like the way the electric version flies better than the same wings and tail on a pure glider at around 30 oz. At 56 oz flying weight the 2m wings with the 201 has performed far better than I would have expected. I used the Eppler 201 on an electric sailplane from back in the days of heavy motors and even heavier battery packs. Both are somewhat thicker airfoils by MODEL standards and have moderate camber that will aid with flying slow and do well in tight high G turns that are very typical of the Warthog. At that size and given a normal sort of wing loading from a model that is around 3 lbs I'd suggest that an Eppler 201 or possibly the Selig 4233. ![]()
